Well this is probably going to be the only time in my life that I agree with Rock firestorm! I guess some kind of a glitch is possible, but the story just seems……too far fetched. Sorry!

Changing the last digit of a credit card isn’t going to work alone. You still have to put in name, card expiration date and the code on the back of the card. This is all done specifically so what you’re claiming happened can’t happen. So clearly you’re not telling us the whole story. From what I can gather, you stole someone’s card and cooked up this ridiculous excuse which a six year old wouldn’t buy. Really, people aren’t that stupid.

Did you look to see if maybe your card number was what you put in it?
And if the person whoes number you did put in finds out you will most likely be in alot of shhitt.

There does not appear to be any fraud. You reported the incident to the merchant. You are returning the phone. It is up to the merchant to remove the charge from the other account, if it was charged.

To be a fraud, there has to be an intention to gain something without paying. Making a error in entering a number is not a crime.

You may have given them the correct number.
Some merchants do not charge a purchase immediately.

By the way your account would be debited or charged for a purchase. A credit occurs when you pay your bill or a charge is removed.

look on the website and get the customer service number and call them explain what happened and have them charge your card and refund the money to the one you used instead

in the future if the card isnt in your hand dont make a purchase

you can and should be charged with fraud and grand larceny

this is not a human error you did this on purpose

you are an adult accept responsibility for your mistake

you never order anything without card in hand

Get an attorney, Sweetie. That is still a crime but you may have a chance to fix the matter if you get an attorney asap and discuss it with him/her.

I don’t think you need to feel as if you’re a criminal. It was an honest mistake and will be corrected, most likely at your expense as it was your mistake. However you need to be more careful in the future and always have your card with you and in your hand while punching in those numbers online.

If you accidentaly hit someone with your car and kill them you are still charged with manslaughter. So yes I believe you are still committing a crime.
