You will also have to press charges for identity theft against your mother in law. You will ALSO have to put a fraud alert on your credit report and challenge (dispute) any fraudulent activity, such as erroneous Chex Systems or TeleCheck notations on your credit report. You must file a police report. Then, you must take that police report to your bank, and contest the fraudulent checks.
